Parish of the Harwich Peninsula

All Saints’ Dovercourt, St Michael’s Ramsey, St Nicholas’ Harwich & St Paul’s Parkeston

The Mothers’ Union

The MU has world-wide membership.   It is especially concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life.

Its aims and objectives are:

· to uphold Christ’s teaching in the nature of marriage and promote its wider understanding;

· to encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church;

· to maintain a world-wide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service;

· to promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children;  and

· to help those whose family life has met with adversity.

MU members are involved with:

· prison visiting and supporting prisoners’ families;  and

· contact centres -   where children, under the terms of the Children’s’ Act, have the right of contact with a non resident parent, rather than the parent having the right of access to the child.

The only criterion for membership of the MU is that you have been baptised.

There are two branches of the Mothers Union in the parish:

· the All Saints’ Mothers Union meets on the second Wednesday of the month (except in August) in All Saints’ Church Family Room at 2.30pm – all are welcome;

· the St Nicholas’ Mothers Union meets on the first Wednesday of month 2.15pm.
